The moment you step in the interview room, you are making the first impression based on how you’re dressed. As we all know, the first impression is incredibly meaningful and important. Thus you should dress as professionally as you can to make a great first impression.
Following are some guidelines on dressing for interviews.
1. Consider the potential job.Dress in a manner that is professionally appropriate to the job, the company, as well as industry. If every employee in the company wearing serious suits, then you’d better dressed in a sober suit. If the workers wear casually, then you can wear not so formal. But remember never “dress too casual” for an interview.
2. The suit should fit you well.Inappropriate dresses can divert your attention to uncomfortable and low self-esteem feelings. Your suit should fit you well so that you look great and your confidence strengthened. And also it should be comfortable so that you can act your best.
3. Best Colors to Wear. It’s good to show a bit of personality by wearing bright clothes. It can help you stand out and appear more confident. However, it is best to stick to basic colors, rather than loud, busy ones. Try to find a balance between professional and personality.
4. Less Formal Interview Dressing. When the workplace or the job is less formal, a suit may be as well. If you’re not sure what to wear, you'd better check with the person scheduling the interview. However, it’s still important not to dress down.
5. Get Ready Earlier.Get your clothes ready the night before, so you don’t have to spend time getting them ready on the day of the interview. Here “Ready” means that your clothes are cleaned and pressed.
